Gallery Press Release

“Gallery Protocol is pleased to announce Glimmerguts, an exhibition of artists Ryan Browning and Casey Jex Smith. The exhibition features recent drawings, paintings, sculpture, and video works from the artists. The exhibition opens Nov. 8 and will be on view through Nov. 26, 2013. An opening reception is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 8, 6pm-10pm. Drawing equally from traditions of spirituality, mythology, and their shared interest in Dungeons and Dragons, these works depict worlds of fantasy, strange realms, and landscapes of rich symbolic and personal meaning. Painstakingly rendered in oil paint, watercolor, or micron pen, these beautifully detailed scenes provide countless moments of discovery, yet leave the viewer with the feeling of having captured only a glimpse of the total expanse of these incredible other-worlds; worlds we see from a distance, but which Browning and Smith travel freely.”
